Two students from American Senior High School will attend Ivy League schools in the fall.

Aliya Dhanji, 18, from Hialeah, will go to Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. to study Sociology and Public Policy.

“I feel relieved knowing that I have a guaranteed future at a good school and that all my hard work has finally paid off,” Dhanji said in part, in an email from the school.

Kelly Lopez, 18, of Miami is headed to Yale University in New Haven, Conn., where she plans to major in Cognitive Science.

“I hope my admission serves as a message of inspiration to other students from underrepresented communities like mine, that they too, despite the odds, can achieve whatever they want to achieve,” Lopez said in comments released by the school.

American Senior High School is at 18350 NW 67th Ave. in Hialeah.
