Students from American Senior High School won three categories at The Education Fund’s annual Taste of Education contest.

On Feb. 28 at the Hialeah Park clubhouse, aspiring chefs from 23 culinary programs in Miami-Dade County public schools competed for cash prizes.

Shown in the first photo is Mea Williams, 15, of Miami Gardens, a member of American High’s Fire Spirits team. Their Indian cuisine, with ingredients supplied by Sysco South Florida, won the vegetarian, overall pitch and overall visual categories.  Local chefs, food media influencers and hospitality executives judged the entries, The Education Fund said.  Classmate/teammate Alinamary Miranda, 17, of Hialeah, is behind Mea.
