Miami-Dade County Public Schools will begin Monday, August 20. To get ready for the first day back, there are several pieces of vital information parents and students need to know. For initial registration, all students must meet the immunization requirements by state law and provide evidence of physical examination. Last day of school will be Thursday, June 6.
Fall recess will be Friday, November 23.
Winter recess will begin Monday, December 24 until Friday, January 4.
Spring recess will be from Monday, March 25 until Friday, March 29.
Teacher planning days (Schools are closed): August 16,17; September 10,19; November 21; January 18; April 19; and June 7.
Holidays: Labor day (September 3), Veteran’s Day (November 12), Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday (January 21), President’s day (February 18) and Memorial Day (May 27).
Secondary Early Release days: September 27, March 14, April 11 and May 9. (Every Wednesday, second through fifth grade students as well as second through eighth grade students in K-8 centers are released one hour early.)
Pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade students will attend school from 8:20 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. Second through eighth graders will attend school from 8:35 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. Middle school hours will be from 9:10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Senior high school hours will be from 7:20 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. (Some elementary, middle, senior high schools and K-8 centers will operate on individual schedules, contact school for more information.)
