Students at Bob Graham Education Center in Miami Lakes took home silver and bronze medals during the 68th South Florida Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
Science Teacher Heather Gordon’s sixth graders Kloe Carrasquillo, Hailey Sanchez and Nicholas Melendres received honorable mention for their experiment which tested nail polish to see how much water could seep through the enamel.
Seventh graders Javier Avila and Kaylin Starling won second place for their project on how various construction materials may block wireless signal strength.
Eighth graders Joaquin Baez and Alexandra Bauza received an honorable mention for their project on the best method to clean cell phones.
The awards were based on the students’ presentations. They were chosen to represent the Bobcats at the regional fair after placing first in the school’s science fair.
