BGEC STEM students competed in RoboSlam VEX IQ event

The Bob Graham Education Center Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) Academy competed on January 28 at the RoboSlam VEX IQ competition at the Miami Youth Fair Grounds. The teams’ ‘Savage Robots’ finished in 5th place in the team competition out of the 54 teams competing. The team was led by teacher Marilyn Dieppa.

The team qualified to compete in the VEX IQ state competition for their STEM research project which consisted of creating a robotic walking cane for the blind. All three STEM Academy Teams from Bob Graham Education Center will be competing at the state level competition scheduled for February 18. 

“We are so proud of this team who even received recommendations from the judges on marketing their idea,” said principal Yecenia Martinez-Lopez.
