Two students from Bob Graham Education Center in Miami Lakes were recently honored for making an ethical choice.

Fourth graders Luna Santana and Brian Cruz turned in to school administrators what was described as a “very nice ring,” according to Ariadna Espinosa, executive director of Do the Right Thing Miami Inc.

The classmates, shown in the photo above, decided to not give in to peer pressure and returned the bauble, Espinosa said.

The kids were honored Dec. 16 during a ceremony at the Miami Police Department.

Do the Right Thing holds monthly ceremonies to celebrate such decision-making by students in grades kindergarten through 12.

For their good deed, Luna and Brian each received a mini-tablet; a plaque; a pie from Papa John’s Pizza; a $25 Amazon gift card; tickets to a Miami Marlins game, Zoo Miami and Island Queen Cruises & Tours and three letters of congratulation from Miami Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, Espinosa said.

Bob Graham Education Center is at 15901 NW 79th Ave. in Miami Lakes. The school is named for former U.S. Sen. and Fla. Gov. Bob Graham, whose family founded and developed the Town of Miami Lakes.
