More than 200 kids received backpacks filled with school supplies during the Get Back to School Ready event at Gus Machado Ford in Hialeah in early August.
The event was sponsored by Miami-Dade County Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr., (District 13), State Senator Rene Garcia, Gus Machado and the Hialeah Firefighters Benevolent Association.
The 200 backpacks, along with free DNA kits and Sunpass transponders, were given away on a first come, first served basis.
“This was a great opportunity for parents to get their kids ready for the upcoming school year while saving money on supplies, and I’d like to thank State Senator Garcia and Gus Machado Ford for joining me in this annual effort,” Bovo said.
