David Espantoso, a 2017 Mater Academy graduate who is heading to the University of Florida in the fall, was among 11 recipients who earned the International Champions Cup $10,000 scholarship award. The recipients were announced at the International Champions Cup match at Hard Rock Stadium, where they received free tickets the contest. Espantoso and the other recipients won the scholarship award for demonstrating a financial need to attend college, maintained at least a 3.0 GPA, and had to submit a 300-500 word easy on the impact the game of soccer has made in their lives.
