Ariel Criberio is hoping to lead the Goleman Gators to victory during his first year as head football coach. The Gators have already played against the West Broward Bobcats for a preseason game, and Naples Golden Gate for the beginning of the season.

“We have more players than ever and we are expecting a great season for varsity and for JV,” said Criberio.

Criberio is a former Goleman graduate from the class of 2006, and then attended the University of Miami for his bachelor’s degree.

“He has a fire in him and he is very energized. He dots all his i’s and crosses all his t’s. He has it under control,” said assistant coach John Murillo.

Though Criberio is the new head football coach, he is not new to the Goleman team. While a student, Criberio was on the Goleman JV and varsity football teams throughout high school, and quickly returned to Goleman after he received his degree. He was previously an assistant coach when first joining the staff, and was named head coach this year.

“The program at Goleman has made me mature as a player and as a man. I’m very grateful for it and now I get to see how it changes others,” Criberio said.

The Gators varsity team has a total of 11 games this season and will face Ronald Reagan High School on Friday, September 6. The JV team faces Westland High School on Wednesday, September 18.
