Barbara Goleman Senior High is hoping for a “true homecoming” this school year.
In addition to the school’s regularly scheduled homecoming game and dance is a Grand Alumni Homecoming Celebration. Goleman faculty and staff have invited all Goleman High School alumni back to “the swamp” to reconnect and relive the experiences that made them Gators on Saturday, November 8. Festivities begin at 3 p.m. and last until the homecoming football game.
Goleman’s 20th Grand Alumni Homecoming Celebration is an event to bring the community together and celebrate the many graduates over the last two decades. The all-day event will begin with food trucks, a student art exhibit, and face painting for kids. At 6 p.m. a pre-game celebration will be held at Milander Center located at 4700 Palm Avenue, and the evening will come to a close as the homecoming football game kicks off.
“In my graduation speech for the seniors, I said ‘never forget that Goleman is not just a school, this is your home. You will be forevermore a part of the Gator family.’ By creating these kick-off events, we are making that statement into reality,” said school principal Joaquin Hernandez.
This kick-off is the first of many leading up to the grand celebration on August 28, 2015, the official 20th anniversary of the school. March madness, a family luau, a family jamboree and more community events are in the works for the 2014-2015 school year.
