Hialeah Miami Lakes High's DECA Team competes at states

Hialeah Miami Lakes High School’s (HML) DECA team and faculty sponsor Ted Dinicola traveled to Orlando the first weekend in March to participate in the DECA State Career Development Conference (CDC). The 27 Trojan team members participated in a variety of events and competitions in multiple fields.
Junior Janette Camejo and senior Stephany Sanchez competed in the Community Service Project category, garnering eighth place statewide for their DECA leadership role in managing the Pumpkin Patch in Miami Lakes.
Senior Heather Tabares participated in the Integrated Marketing Campaign Event, earning third place and a Role Play Distinction. Junior Akil Cole, competed in the Automotive Services Marketing and achieved a Test Score Distinction earning him overall sixth place. Tabares and Cole will both head to the International DECA competition International Career Development Conference in April.
HML DECA member and former Florida State DECA vice president Christina Delgado was awarded the Ed Fleming Memorial Scholarship. HML junior Franco Hinojosa was selected to serve as Florida DECA vice president. Hinojosa will hold that officer position for the statewide DECA organization for the 2019-2020 school year.
