Hialeah Miami Lakes High School’s Science National Honor Society (SNHS) participated in this year's SECME competition at MDC North campus. The students competed in several events including egg drop, bottle rocket, and mouse trap car. Each of these involved hands-on experience and the students were able to perform exceptionally better than any year before.

The mouse trap car, done by Ashley Figueras and Tania Loaiza, traveled a total of 24 feet; the most it's ever traveled in the years HML has participated in the competition. The bottle rocket, done by Alexandra Ochoa, Jessica Lorenzo, Rabia Imran, and Natalie Alba, exceed any hang time students in the past years accomplished. The egg drop, done by Daniela Martinez, Jairo Rocha, and Yailin Cubas, managed to pass the first round without cracking the egg. Overall, the competition proved to be successful. Students in SNHS next year will gain from the experience and hopefully continue to better their performance.
