For the first time in Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy (JMMAST) history, the school hase a Silver Knight Award Honorable Mention. The honor was achieved in the Art category by senior Vanessa Tascon Meneses. She was very involved in the restoration of her school’s 40 life sized painting around the building.
She is a contributing artist to their ever-expanding mural depicting street art much like the kind seen in the Wynwood District. She has also raised funds and rallied the student body to join her as she ventures to make her school known for its strong arts program as well as STEM. JMMAST is extremely proud of all of the selfless hours Meneses has contributed to leaving behind a splash of color and encouraging students to get in touch with their “artsy” side.
Other local students were also named Honorable Mention for the 2019 awards including Abdiel Vasallo from Hialeah Gardens for Vocational Technical, and Catalina Sanchez from Mater Academy for World Languages. Congratulations to all the Silver Knights Award winners and Honorable Mentions.
