Miami Lakes resident, Lety Carvajal, an alumna from Monsignor Edward Pace Senior High School, is now the owner and head administrator of Springview Academy, a voluntary pre-kindergarten (VPK) center located at 18505 N.W. 75 Place in northwest Miami Dade.

Though the opening of Springview Academy marks Carvajal's first business approach, she has long been a part of the Early Childhood Education field. The academy was created after a lifelong love for education.

After working as a teacher assistant in 1999, Carvajal earned her degree in Elementary Education and has since worked as an Early Childhood teacher. She is certified by the state and holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership. Carvajal is also the mother of a special needs child.

Her combined professional and personal experience has helped her to craft a learning environment that uses a combination of traditional and avant-garde strategies within the classroom that concentrate on citizenship building, independence strengthening, technology and preparation for elementary school and beyond.

Springview provides childcare for infants through 4 years old. The academy implements a creative curriculum in all classrooms which is used to inspire children to be active thinkers and experimenters.

All teachers at Springview Academy have earned their Child Development Associate certification and are First Aide and CPR certified. The teachers adhere to the Springview Academy philosophy which aims to provide an exceptional learning experience through imaginative learning, appropriate goals, variety of technology, and reinforcing students to be self-efficient in an ideal environment.

There are no entry limitations for the academy. Parents are welcome to visit the school and meet the staff during an open house scheduled for Saturday, August 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The academy will be open Mondays through Fridays from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. For more information visit www.springviewacademy.net or call 305-456-5207.
