The votes are in and Lawton Chiles Middle School (LCMS) won the Local 10 eARTh Day Art Contest. They announced the winner on April 22 which is Earth Day. LCMS received a surprise visit from Channel 10 and its news crew to announce the winner and award them with $4,500 to use toward art supplies.
LCMS art students utilized their Cambridge Global Perspective theme of Migration to create a self-standing sculpture called “They Matter Too!” featuring an adult turtle with a hatchling. The artwork captured the most votes.
Publix and Channel 10 created this contest to help share awareness of how much Earth matters. The students really had an amazing experience creating their sculpture.
