Lisa Depriest announces book signing for 'Poor Teddy'

Education Wednesday, January 31, 2018

Local author Lisa DePriest will have a book signing of her new book “Poor Teddy” on Saturday, February 10, at Duke and Dutchess Pet Center, 7345 Miami Lakes Drive in the Cypress Village Shopping Center.

“Poor Teddy” is a true story of a rescued dog that has been enjoyed by both children and adults.

DePriest is the daughter of Flossie and Roland Gomez and grew up in Miami Lakes. She has a long history in animal welfare which includes serving as a director for Pet Rescue, Inc. for 15 years until its merger with the Humane Society of Greater Miami, where she now works as their Community Relations Manager.

A large part of her job involves educating the public, especially children, on being responsible pet owners. DePriest was also instrumental in starting the Paws in the Court program at the Children’s Courthouse where both she, and her therapy dog Sparky, were recognized by the 11th Judicial Court at their Wall of Honor Ceremony in June 2017.

The book signing event will start at 3:30 p.m. and continue until at least 5:30 p.m. The Pampered Chef next door will be offering Yappy Hour specials.  Pets are welcome!
