As part of the Values Matter Miami initiative, Miami-Dade County Public Schools partnered with Sandy Hook Promise, a national non-profit organization, which focuses on violence prevention so that no parent has to experience the loss of his or her child.

This partnership included “Start With Hello” week at Miami-Dade County Public Schools which took place September 19-23. The initiative raised awareness about social isolation and highlighted the importance of creating connected and inclusive classrooms, schools, and communities. All schools participated in “Start With Hello” week and found creative ways to personalize the activities for their school.

Each day of the week featured a special theme. Monday, September 19 was “Hey Day;” the following day was “Positivity Tuesday;” Wednesday was “Make Miami Green” day; Thursday was “Miami-Dade Mingles” day, and the week ended with “Forget Me Not Friday.”
