The College Board released earlier in the summer the Advanced Placement scores and Mater Lakes Academy received a 72 percent passing rate, the school’s highest ever passing rate.
In order to receive a passing score, the AP students must earn a score of 3 or higher in their exam. This year 309 students tested 749 exams, the highest in Mater Lakes Academy history. Over the last five years, Mater Lakes has consistently increased its passing score from 59 percent in 2012-2013, 62 perecent in 2013-2014, 68 percent in 2014-2015, 71 perecent in 2015-2016, and 72 percent in 2016-2017.

Students that take AP courses and score a passing score in their respective exam, could earn college credits nationwide as well as use the credits to save on college tuition. Many students at Mater Lakes Academy are not only taking Advanced Placement courses but are taking dual enrollment courses at Miami-Dade College and Doral College.

With over twenty AP Courses offered at Mater Lakes Academy, students have a variety of courses they can take throughout their secondary school experience that peek their interests and passions.

Mater Lakes Academy topped not only the state passing rate but the average passing rate internationally. The global passing rate for the 2016-2017 school year was 60 percent and in the state of Florida 55 percent.

“Our teachers have been preparing throughout the summer in Advanced Placement trainings throughout the country to bring the latest and greatest materials to our students to keep the learning environment rigorous and innovative,” said principal, Rene F. Rovirosa.
