Miami Dade College’s Homestead campus and the Lennar Foundation are offering MDC Builds, a free, 10-week online certificate program for those who seek entry level jobs in the construction industry.
There are morning and nighttime classes as well as advisors, mentors, transportation vouches and meals, the school said.
Students will have both classroom and hands-on training in carpentry, electrical systems and plumbing.
They will also earn an OSHA 30 Training Certificate that enables them to recognize and avoid workplace hazards.
The school says employment in the construction trades is expected to grow 12% by 2026.
The course is open to those who are at least 18 years old and unemployed or underemployed.
Registration begins Oct. 12.
