Students attending high schools in the Miami Lakes area may benefit from new scholarships to Miami Dade College that are funded by the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce. During the Chamber’s Aug. 10 luncheon, leaders presented a $2,000 check to the school, which represents four, $500 scholarships, Chamber President Fred Senra said. The Chamber board wanted to give back to the community, and the business boosters created the scholarships with money from membership dues and ticket sales to events.
The application process will begin in 2023. Students who wish to apply may go to www.mdc.edu, click the scholarship link under the “Paying for College” tab and look for the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce Scholarship.
