School is back in session, but the next Teacher Planning Day is scheduled for October 3 and the Town of Miami Lakes provides Day Camps on each of the Miami-Dade Public School Teacher Planning Days through partnerships with PEAR and the YMCA.
The PEAR program (Program in Education, Afterschool and Resiliency) is offered at “The Spot,” the Town’s Youth Center at 6075 Miami Lakes Drive East. For information, call Shelley Erasmus at 954-261-6154, or email shelly@pearprograms.com.
YMCA’s program is offered at the Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 N.W. 87 Avenue. For more information, call YMCA at 305-357-6622.
Both organizations also offer afterschool care throughout the school year on Mondays through Fridays from 2 to 6 p.m. for children ages 5 to 15 years old. Transportation is provided from Miami Lakes schools to the program locations by the program providers.
