Valeria Bula, a junior in Miami Lakes Educational Center’s (MLEC) Cambridge Journalism Program, was selected to three summer programs. She was selected to an MIT Engineering Outreach Program. She was one of 52 students selected nationwide to live and study at MIT for 6 weeks and take college courses ranging from architecture and humanities to physics, computer science and calculus.

Bula was accepted to the South Central Scholars (SCS) Noonan Scholars program, which includes a $1,000 scholarship, room and board at Amherst University this summer.

Additionally, she was selected to the Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America (LEDA) program at Princeton University. It was a difficult choice, but she opted to join the LEDA program and will spend 7 weeks at Princeton University this summer. There, she will take college courses in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) and the humanities, while learning a variety of skills, including networking and resume building.
