The Miami Lakes K-8 Center is promoting healthy eating habits to their students.
Teacher Jennifer Gomez’s 2nd graders recently planted vegetables and flowers (that will deter insects) in two raised garden beds.
The students will tend to the plants as they grow and harvest them when they’re ripe.
The class plans to plant and harvest again, a pattern they’ll continue during the rest of the school year.
MLK-8, at 14250 NW 67th Ave., has an ‘A‘ grade from the Florida Department of Education.
