Miami Lakes K-8 Center third grader Noah Tarazona received a medal at the Future Wavemakers Summit in West Palm Beach on April 26.

The Wavemakers invite students to create environmental solutions and present them to a panel of scientists and community leaders.

“Noah submitted an innovative project on alligators versus crocodiles that presented conservation efforts in understanding ecosystem roles, habitat protections and public education,” his teacher Kristina Cala said in an email.

The annual competition is open to students ages 4 to 18 in the state. Noah, who lives in town, participated in the category for kids ages 7 to 10, Cala said.

Miami Lakes K-8 Center said that Noah placed among the top 100 finalists.

“Noah’s proven to be a true changemaker, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact he’ll continue to make,” Principal Yanelys Ferrer wrote in an email.
