The Miami Lakes K-8 Center’s Knight Owls competed in their first chess tournament of the school year open to students from public and private schools in Miami-Dade County, put on by the 64 Squares Foundation at the Divine Savior Academy in Doral on Oct. 16. The K-5 division, with Aidan Alvarez, Zoe Trinidad and Christopher Capute, won seven games, putting them in second place, the school said.
