Students in Ada Romeu’s Pre-law class at Miami Lakes K-8 Center (MLK8) raised enough funds to purchase hundreds of pounds of food and toys for animals in the Miami-Dade Animal Shelter in Doral. Students submitted their charitable work to the Lead 2 Feed contest and received an Honorable Mention award.
“It is an honor to work with such enthusiastic students and parents who are willing to lend a helping hand to our community,” Romeu said. “This teaches great life lessons to our students and encourages them to continue working towards the betterment of our community.”
As part of their reward, MLK8 received national recognition in a publication and the shelter received an additional $1,000 donation. Romeu also won the Lead 2 Feed Teacher of the Week recognition in early May.
