New Testament Baptist Church and Dade Christian School schedule annual Carnival for Feb. 22-25

Religious Wednesday, January 31, 2018

New Testament Baptist Church (NTBC) has announced its annual carnival will be open from February 22 to 25. The hours are Thursday from 5-10 p.m., Friday from 5-11 p.m., Saturday from noon to 12 a.m. and Sunday from 1 to 10 p.m.

The carnival will be held on the Dade Christian Campus on 6601 N.W. 167 Street. Admission is free, but wristbands to ride are an additional cost.

“It’s quality family time, and it’s also benefitting the school,” Said teacher Steven Willoughby.

The carnival is a fundraising opportunity for the church as well as their school. Around 15 to 20 vendors participate, not including the food trucks or vendors from the school or NTBC itself. In fact, one of the most popular specials sold in the Fair is Pan con Lechon that is actually made by the deacons of NTBC.

“We have the carnival every year to reach out to the community in ways that are unique. In that sense we look at the carnival not only as a fundraiser, but as a friend raiser also.” said Pastor Reyner Cruz

Over the four days, thousands of guests flock to the NTBC carnival. Faculty, church members and students participate and volunteer all weekend long to help with crowds.

Since its creation in 2013, the carnival has been an effective way of raising money for the church and its ministries. It takes up to a year to plan, with more details being planned four months before they open.

Each class is encouraged to sell as many tickets as they can to win a dress down day with a pizza party, a no homework pass and a $100 off voucher for 2018-19 tuition. Teachers get in on the fun too, and if they have the winning class they get to pie a fellow staff member in the face and also earn one paid day off.
