OLL's Chess Club returns

The COVID-19 pandemic postponed the activities of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School’s Chess Club for 20 months. But in November, more than 60 students returned to the boards to study and compete in the game.

Interest was so high, the school said, that the club meets on two separate days to accommodate all the players.

Besides learning the strategies of chess, the kids have another goal: To compete in the Town of Miami Lakes Mayor’s Chess Challenge, with students from area schools participating. It is to be held early in 2022.
