Pace cheerleaders take 1st place in FHSAA Championships

     Monsignor Edward Pace High School’s cheerleading squad are officially state titleholders after winning their division at the Florida High School Athletic Association Championships in Gainesville on Feb. 2 The University of Florida hosted teams from around the state when Pace took first place. Pace beat six other squads during the semi-finals to secure a place in the state competition, Pace head cheerleading coach Surella Rodriguez said. 

     The Spartan’s win is the first for the school in competitive cheerleading in the Florida High School Athletic Association Championships, 1A Division, Rodriguez said. The winners are, front left first row, Kayla Francois, Hailey Cano, Alyssa Gonzalez, Sophia Fern, Marissa Estrada, Madelyn Perez, Carolina Morales and Mirkah Pierre.  Second Row: Emily Alonso, Chloe-Ane Vico, Naidil Oscariz, Hannah Pontigoso, Amanda Rodriguez, Marcela Nova, Genesis Rodriguez, Saniyah Bien-Aime and Calanie Escarment.
