Pace High School celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2019 with the traditional Baccalaureate Mass on May 19 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie to honor the graduates as they end high school and begin their collegiate years.
Reverend Paul Vuturo celebration the afternoon service along with Class of 2006 Pace alumnus Father Bryan Garcia. Vuturo and principal Ana Garcia presented each senior with a baccalaureate medal with the school seal on it.
Members of the graduating class brought offertory gifts of bread and wine to the altar for the Eucharistic celebration. A Spartan helmet, cheerleading pompoms, textbooks and a cross with some of the other items brought to the altar to symbolize their time spent at Pace.
The class acknowledged members of the Pace family and parents who offered their constant support throughout their four years at Pace and thanked each of them with small gifts of appreciation. Graduating members of the Pace chorus performed for the last time singing “I Lived” by One Republic.
Following the mass, students and their families enjoyed a photo slideshow showcasing some of the many cherished memories by the graduates since their freshman year.
The Class of 2019 commemorated their high school journey at the 56th annual Commencement Exercise on May 24 at Miami-Dade County Auditorium. Senior Fabia St. Juste, who will be attending Cornell University in the fall, gave an inspiring and cheerful farewell address. She reminisced about the memories made, lessons learned and the legacy this class leaves for future generations of Spartans.
In a warm address, Garcia wished the graduates well and announced some of their many accolades. One highlight is that as a class, the 2019 graduates received $13 million in total academic and athletic scholarships.
The 244 graduates received their diplomas and moved their tassels from left to right confirming their achievement as high school graduates. Then they participated in one of the school’s long time tradition of tossing their graduation caps into the air creating one final and joyful memory at Pace Spartans.
