A total of 51 students from Pace High School were inducted into the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) at a special ceremony held inside the Spartan Center on December 1.
Every year, exceptional Pace students are invited into NHS by a faculty council and inducted in a ceremony that has become a December tradition. Students are invited by showcasing excellence in the foundations of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
This year, 26 sophomores, 19 juniors, and six seniors were officially welcomed into the organization. They were accompanied to the induction ceremony by their family, friends, and NHS peers. Dean of Faculty Lilian Dubon and NHS adviser Luis Mayo opened the ceremony by congratulating the inductees on their accomplishments.
Following this, the NHS student executive board officers spoke about the foundations of NHS and the inductees read the NHS pledge together.
The inductees were then each called up to the stage to be given their certificates and light their individual ceremonial candles. Once all the inductees were recognized, the evening concluded with dinner and dessert for all in attendance.
