Pace inducts 63 into National Honor Society

Over 60 students from Monsignor Edward Pace High School put on their best suits and dresses to celebrate their induction into Pace’s chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) on December 3.

The NHS Induction Ceremony is an annual tradition taking place in the school’s Spartan Center where exceptional students are officially welcomed into the organization. Students must exhibit NHS’ four pillars of scholastic performance, service, leadership skills, and overall character in order to be invited by a faculty council to join.

Those inducted included 25 sophomores, 24 juniors, and 14 seniors (one of the largest induction groups in the past several years) were welcomed into the society at the 2015 ceremony accompanied by their parents and their fellow NHS peers.

The evening began with speeches from Pace principal Ana Garcia and NHS adviser Luis Mayo congratulating both the students and their parents on their journey to this moment. The NHS student executive board then spoke in turn about each of the four pillars and NHS president Maya Lora asked the new inductees to rise and read the NHS induction pledge together.

Following this, the inductees were called up to the stage one-by-one to be presented with their certificates and to light their individual candle in a traditional ritual with their grade level. After prayer, the evening concluded with dinner and desert for the inductees and their families.
