Summer is almost over, and Monsignor Edward Pace High School is ready to welcome its new students to the 2014-2015 school year at the Spartan Experience New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 14. Freshman and transfer students will have a full day of activities designed to welcome them to Pace and get them accustomed to being a part of the Pace family.

They will begin the day by getting breakfast and having their ID picture taken during registration in the Spartan Center at 8 a.m. After the opening prayer and ice breakers at 9 a.m., students will break into their groups and go on a campus scavenger hunt at 9:30 a.m. Current Pace students will be helping their new fellow Spartans find their way around campus and throughout the rest of the orientation.

Their morning will end in the chapel, as Campus Minister and keynote speaker Andres Novela welcomes them into the spiritual Pace family by talking about getting off on the right foot and making the best of high school.

Once students are finished in the chapel, they will move back to the Spartan Center for lunch, courtesy of Pace Student Activities. Starting at 1:30 p.m., groups of students will be moving all across campus for the rest of the afternoon as they attend sessions on college prep, student activities, campus ministry, and athletics.

At 4:30 p.m., new Pace parents will be welcomed as well as they attend their first question-and-answer meeting in the chapel where they can meet with administrators, faculty, and other parents. At the same time, students will be enjoying ice cream sponsored by a Pace family at a social in the Spartan Center.

Finally, students will be presenting the group skits they prepared earlier to parents as the long day ends at 6 p.m. with the new Spartans more prepared to start their first full day of school on Monday, August 18.
