Making what has become an annual pilgrimage, 11 Monsignor Edward Pace High School Torch Yearbook staff members and yearbook adviser Christina Cruz attended the Yearbookpalooza summer workshop from Monday, July 21 to Wednesday, July 23. Hosted by school services and yearbook publisher Herff Jones, Yearbookpalooza gathered yearbook staffs from around the country at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center at the Florida Mall in Orlando.

Yearbookpalooza’s workshops focused on every facet and skill necessary to build a yearbook, from photography and copywriting to yearbook design and event coverage. After spending a fun day at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, the Torch yearbook staff arrived to the conference and began their training by attending workshops on developing yearbook themes.

Throughout the rest of the event, staff members worked in large groups and attended specific skill workshops of their choice. The students also participated in contests where they submitted their best work in different categories and even a talent show where they performed skits, dances, and songs.

This year was the 20th anniversary of Yearbookpalooza and the 10th year that Pace High School has sent their yearbook staff to the conference. The workshop helped the Pace Torch yearbook staff decide on a theme for the next yearbook, but that theme is being kept secret until further notice.
