The Dad’s Club of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School will host a unique competition to benefit the school: A pig roast, called Pig Nic.
The porkers will be cooked on Jan. 26 by 14 teams of amateur chefs who are parish members.
The results will be judged by a panel that includes Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid; school Principal Barbara Picazo; former principal Ricardo Briz;
Avian Guerra of the La Caja China company; Rodolfo Cabrera of meat supplier Mary’s Ranch, and Chef Mylo Gonzalez of NQC and Smoke Box BBQ
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children ages 3 - 10.
Kids younger than 3
get in free.
Tickets may be purchased at the gate or the week before at the school and pay for roasted pork, barbecue; hamburgers and hot dogs and beverages.
VIP access costs an additional $5 and includes beer and coffee, courtesy of Tank Brewery, Nomand and Co. and Café Bustelo.
A DJ will play music all day, there will be domino games, a bounce house and raffles.
The fundraiser will be held on the school field from noon - 6 p.m.
