Miami Laker Ramiro Inguanzo was recently appointed to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Secure our Future Advisory Committee.

In Nov. 2018, Miami-Dade County voters approved a .75 mill increase in property taxes to improve teacher compensation raises and increase security in schools.

Revenues of $240 million generated from the additional tax have come in, Inguanzo said on Sept. 13.
School Board Chair Perla Tabares Hantman appointed Inguanzo to the 19-member watchdog panel.

“The purpose of the committee is to make sure that the monies are budgeted and allocated for costs the voters approved, the salaries for teachers and putting police officers in the schools,” Inguanzo said.

The four-year appointment is unpaid. Inguanzo is an assistant manager and human resources director in the Village of Bal Harbour.
