Miami Lakes residents can now register for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library online. The Imagination Library is a gifting program for children from birth to age five.
Each month, the Library will mail free high-quality and age-appropriate books to the home. Every child will have books of their very own, at no cost to the parents or caregivers, thanks to the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board and Dolly Parton.
The key to proficiency in reading is to start early and begin reading to a child the day he/she is born, according to the program. The more words a child hears, the larger the child’s vocabulary and the more likely he or she will be a proficient reader.
To participate, fill out and submit he registration form online at http://bit.ly/ImagineLibrary. In about 8 to 10 weeks, after the registration form has been approved, a new, carefully selected book will be mailed each month in the child’s name.
