As proposed by Board Member Perla Tabares Hantman, the Miami-Dade School Board unanimously voted to endorse both the 2017 “Welcome Back to School” Safety Flyer for distribution during the first week of school, and International “Walk to School Day.“
For the past several years the Community Traffic Safety Team has developed a school flyer containing safety messages that promote student traffic safety at the elementary, middle and high school levels,” said Hantman. “Student safety has always been near and dear to my heart, therefore I am proud to be able to bring forth initiatives that promote student safety by endorsing International ‘Walk to School Day.”
The School Board voted to endorse the 2017 Welcome Back to School Safety Flyer for distribution during the first week of school, the 2017 International “Walk to School Day” and implement the “WalkSafe” pedestrian safety program curriculum during the week of the event.
