School board candidates’ forum draws a crowd

    A forum with the three school board candidates who seek to represent District 4 drew supporters who filled the council chamber at Miami Lakes Town Hall on Aug. 3.

      Shown in the photo from left are candidates Roberto Alonso, Maribel Balbin and Kevin Menendez Macki.  

      The candidates took questions submitted by the public.  The winner will represent northwest Miami-Dade County on the board.

      It was presented by the Town of Miami Lakes, its Education Advisory Board and sponsored by Headquarter Toyota. 

      Early voting is underway for the primary election that will be held Aug. 23.

      Voters may fill out ballots at the Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 NW 82nd Ave. in Miami Lakes. 

     Ballots that are already filled out may also be dropped off there during hours of operation.

     Polls are open from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on weekends.

      Early voting ends after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21.

     Primary Day is Tuesday, Aug. 23.
