Each year the Florida Division of Emergency Management hosts a poster contest in conjunction with Severe Weather Awareness Week. Over 700 posters were entered from around the state.
The panel of judges selected Grace Ramirez, a third grade Spanish Lake Elementary student as this year's Region 7 poster contest winner.
An assembly for third graders, which was broadcast throughout the school, was held on Friday, February 28. It consisted of safety and preparedness messaging, weather-related games and the prize presentation to Ramirez.
