Miami-Dade County Public Schools held its annual Regional Science Fair event at the Miami-Dade College STEM Expo on Saturday, February 7. Spanish Lake Elementary (SLE) School was represented in the Science Fair by the school’s first place winners.
At the county event, Ryan Milian won a first place Superior Gold Medal for his “Greasy Chips” project and Anabelle Ballate received an honorable mention for her “Decay of Steel Cables” project.
In addition, the SLE SECME team participated in the mousetrap car and banner competition. The team won first place for their banner which represented the theme “STEM ideas today… STEM reality tomorrow”. SLE thanked Science coach Nayeli Quintana and SECME sponsors Maria Vogel and Jennifer Fonseca for their work within the school.
