St. Thomas University to host COVID-19 symposium on March 25

     St. Thomas University will host an all-day symposium about the impact of COVID-19 upon complex litigation.

    Representatives from higher education, local governments, business and the courts will appear on panels on March 25 during the event that is free and open to the public.

     The day begins in the Gus Machado College of Business auditorium at 8:30 a.m. with a networking breakfast.

     Speakers from higher education will include David Armstrong, president of St. Thomas University and Dr. Jaffus Hardrick, president of Florida Memorial University.

     From local government, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Raquel Regalado is scheduled to appear, along with Nicholas Noto of Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, and Alexander Falcone, director of Emergency Management for the city of Coral Springs.

     For the business panel, Luis Suarez of Heise Suarez Melville, Alexis Fernandez of MSP Recovery Law Firm and Frank Toral of Neighborhood Kids Franchise Solutions, Inc. are the listed speakers.

     Judge Rodolfo A. Ruiz II of the Southern District of Florida will moderate the courts panel joined by Judge Diana Gonzalez-Whyte, Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida; Judge Darrin P. Gayles of the Southern District of Florida; Chris Lomax, Esq. of Lomax Legal PLLC and Mitchell Chester, Esq. of the Law Offices of Mitchell A. Chester P.A.

     The event is sponsored by STU’s College of Law Journal of Complex Litigation and the St. Thomas University Center for Pandemic, Disaster and Quarantine Research.

     The auditorium is at 16401 NW 37th Ave. in Miami Gardens.
