Miami Lakes resident Perla Tabares Hantman was reelected chair of the Miami-Dade County School Board for the 2019-2020 school year.
It is the 12th time she was chosen for the leadership role, her office said.
Board member Dr. Steve Gallon III was elected vice chair on Nov. 20.
Tabares Hantman represents District 4, which includes Miami Lakes and Hialeah.
Gallon represents District 1, overseeing Miami Gardens and Opa-locka.
“We have a responsibility to improve the education of our students,” Tabares Hantman said in a media release.
