Educators who want to expand their curriculum with innovative courses which they design can apply for grants from The Education Fund.
The nonprofit supports public school teachers and students in Miami-Dade County and is headquartered in the Town of Miami Lakes.
“The Education Fund provides teachers with an incentive to try new methods by giving them the financial support they need that otherwise wouldn’t be available,” Linda Lecht, president of The Education Fund, said in a press statement.
The fund is offering up to $1,000 to pay for new teaching projects created by K-12 instructors in public schools.
Teachers must apply by April 30 and qualify for the program.
Previous grant winners include a teacher who started technology and robotics programs and launched an after-school club, and an educator who began a citizen and voter responsibility project and purchased podcast equipment so that kids could start their own program, the fund said.
In 2020, The Education Fund awarded 146 grants totaling nearly $100,000, according to the organization.
