The 2025 Miami Lakes employee of the year is Accounts Payable Specialist Gabriella Escobar.

“I’m very honored,” Escobar, 25, said. “It’s a privilege to be working for the town and I’m very surprised that I was recognized as Employee of the Year.”

She was a part-time employee in Oct. 2022 when she began working for the town as the liaison for the Special Needs Advisory Board and Mental Health Task Force

She also oversaw the Miami-Dade County Sheriff Ordinance Review Ad-Hoc Committee, Town Manager Edward Pidermann said on Dec. 8 during Mayor Josh Dieguez’s 2025 State of the Town address.

Traditionally during the ceremony employees, businesses and residents are recognized by officials.

“[Gabriella is] always willing to go above and beyond to support our volunteer committees in ensuring their success with implementing their programs and initiatives,” Pidermann said.

Escobar eventually became the town’s accounts payable specialist. She earns $44,200 a year for the full-time position.

“What truly sets our Employee of the Year apart is not only her technical performance but also her character,” Pidermann said.

Escobar received a plaque and a $500 bonus.

Pidermann described her as someone who brings teamwork to every task and demonstrates respect, patience and courtesy toward colleagues, vendors and residents.
