Work on Miami Lakes roads that could potentially cause traffic interruptions will soon need to be done during non-peak hours.

The decision came after Councilman Alex Sanchez, who has made traffic improvements his signature issue, once again pressed the town to to help with traffic congestion during the weekday commute hours.

On September 24, Sanchez proposed that work that could potentially cause traffic interruptions to be done during non-peak traffic hours. Exceptions for emergency situations and work governed by state statues would be made.

Work on roads in the town will now be restricted between7 a.m. and 9 a.m., and between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., on weekdays.

The ordinance passed unanimously and will need to return for a second and final reading, before being implemented.
