A tree for a veteran

     The Town of Miami Lakes and its Veterans Committee honored the memory of longtime resident Glenn Hommell by planting a tree at Veterans Park. Hommell was a corporal in the U.S. Army military police and served during the Korean War, from 1953 to 1955, his widow Barbara Hommell said.

     Glenn Hommell was a fleet manager at Braman Cadillac. He died Aug. 10, 2021. 

     The family, including daughter Lisa Hommell, has ties to town that span 40 years. The tree was put in the ground on April 29, Arbor Day, near the park swings and will eventually have a small marker.
