Blasting Advisory Board meets lawmakers

     Members of the Town of Miami Lakes Blasting Advisory Board met with members of the Florida legislature to share homeowners’ concerns about damage to their properties from limestone mining.

     The group saw Fla. Rep. Tom Fabricio, R-Miramar; Rep. Alex Rizo, R-Hialeah and Fla. Sen. Manny Diaz Jr., R-Hialeah Gardens in January in Tallahassee. 

     Board Chair Miguel Martinez said, “We recognize the industry is essential and we are not out to shut them down,” but said the board’s goal is to find an “equitable solution” to the problem.
