Bovo expected to enter county mayoral race

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr., announced on Sept. 30 his intention to run for mayor of the county.
Bovo will join a crowded field of candidates seeking to replace Carlos Gimenez, who’s term-limited in 2020.
According to Miami-Dade Elections Department, five candidates have filed to run for that office: County Commissioners Daniella Levine Cava and Xavier L. Suarez; former County Commissioner Juan C. Zapata; former Miami Mayoral candidate Robert Ingram Burke and political novice Monique Nicole Barley.
Barley is the daughter of former State Rep. Roy
Hardemon.
The primary election is Aug. 18; Election Day is Nov. 3.
