Business groups, lawyers crowd restaurant to hear council candidates at forum

Seven town council candidates who are seeking three seats on the dais met for a second forum on Oct. 25.
Candidates Angelo Garcia Cuadra; Miguel Comesana III; Josh Dieguez; Carlos O. Alvarez; Ray Garcia; William Perez and Ian Anthony Medina answered a variety of questions from members of the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce, Business Network International Miami Lakes chapter and the Miami Lakes Bar Association, who sponsored the evening.
Held at Trattoria Pampered Chef restaurant, former Miami-Dade County Mayor and Miami Lakes resident Alex Penelas served as moderator once again.
Candidates took questions on a variety of topics, including the proposed $19.5 million bond referendum to improve Optimist Park; whether homeowners should be allowed to store boats in yards; stormwater drainage and traffic.
Candidates can be found greeting voters outside the parking lot for the Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 NW 82nd Ave. Polls are open 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., through Nov. 6.
